Metro Manila[]

Metropolitan Manila (often shortened as Metro Manila), officially the National Capital Region (NCR), is the seat of government and one of three defined metropolitan areas in the Philippines. It is composed of 16 cities: the city of Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Taguig, and Valenzuela, as well as the municipality of Pateros.[1]

The city is represented and protected by a Babaylan-Mandirigma, who keeps watch over crimes done by supernatural beings and maintains The Agreements. Previously held by Anton Trese, the title is currently held by his daughter Alexandra Trese.

Makati[]

Makati, officially the City of Makati, is a highly urbanized city in Metro Manila. It is considered as the financial center of the Philippines, as it has the highest concentration of multinational and local corporations in the country.[2]

Along the city's Ayala Avenue, the tikbalang tribe reside in Armanaz Tower. Lead by Señor Armanaz, the building operates a stock exchange as a front to hide the tikbalang's royal court.[3][4]

The Manila South Cemetery, an exclave of Makati, was the site and source of a massive zombie horde led by Raul Lazaro to overtake the police outpost at the adjacent Kalayaan Street. The zombie invasion was successfully thwarted by Alexandra Trese and the Kambal, with Captain Guerrero covering the event by telling press it was caused by a gang war high on drugs.[5]

Manila[]

Manila, officially called the City of Manila, is the capital of the Philippines and is its second most populous city. Located on the eastern shore of Manila Bay, the Pasig River flows through the middle of the city, dividing it into the north and south sections.[6]

In Binondo, the dragon clans have mapped out their businesses and establishments along the lei lines of the city, calling it "the path of the dragon".[7] A broken hearted Santelmo had also set Binondo on fire in the sixties, burning for three days and three nights, until the intervention of Alexander Trese.[7]

Currently, Alexandra Trese operates from The Diabolical, a bar in Malate that has been run by her family for three generations.[8]

Manila Bay[]

Manila Bay is a natural harbor that serves the Port of Manila.[9] Along the shores of Manila Bay runs Roxas Boulevard, a popular waterfront promenade well known for its sunsets and stretch of coconut trees.[10]

The Madame often spends time along Roxas Boulevard enjoying the sunsets at her own leisure.[11] Also located along Roxas Boulevard is Genio Tower, the headquarters of the Genio Corporation.[12]

Alexandra Trese and the Kambal shut down an aswang operation selling mermaid bones in the port area under the guise of a bar called Trident.[13]

The informal settlement of Barangay Pacifica was attacked by four gangs of taga-dagat. Led by Rakuda, the creatures invaded the barangay and killed 365 residents in an offering to Bagyon Yente. This offering was in exchange for the Bagyon's control over the weather and floods, allowing the taga-dagat to gain strongholds in the mainland. Although overpowered by Shift Pills, they were defeated by Carlos and Alexandra Trese, with the help of the Executioner's Squad, the Kambal and Amang Paso. However, Bagyon Yente, under permission from Datu Karagatan and the Madame, took over and claimed 400 dead taga-dagat as an offering for her and the Bagyon abstaining from making powerful typhoons for a year.[11]

Manila Metro Rail Transit System[]

The Manila Metro Rail Transit System (MRTS or MRT) is one of the two rapid transit systems serving Metro Manila in the Philippines along with the Manila Light Rail Transit System (LRTS).[14]

MRT Line 3 is used by Ibu as a ferry to expedite the transportation of souls, as it's tracks follow Ibu's river all the way into the Afterworld.[15]

Mandaluyong[]

Mandaluyong, officially the City of Mandaluyong, is located directly east of Manila. It is known for the Ortigas Center, a commercial and business center that is also shared with Pasig and Quezon City.[16]

Decades ago in Barangay Mauay, Corporal Raul Lanares resides in the National Center for Mental Health (referred in the series as the National Mental Hospital) after being diagnosed as a schizophrenic.[17]

Marikina[]

Marikina, officially the City of Marikina, is a 1st class highly urbanized city known as the "Shoe Capital of the Philippines" for its famous shoe industry. It is the biggest manufacturer of shoes in the Philippines, producing almost 70% of shoes made in the country.[18]

Bantay spent his days in an underground fighting ring in Marikina, reigning as it's defending champion and holding his own even without his metal prosthetic against powerful beings like bungisngis.[12]

Muntinlupa[]

Muntinlupa, officially the City of Muntinlupa, is known as the location of the national insular penitentiary, the New Bilibid Prison, where the country's most dangerous criminals are incarcerated. It is also the location of Ayala Alabang Village, one of the country's biggest and most expensive residential communities, where many of the wealthy and famous live.[19]

In Alabang, Ding Vargas killed Mr. Manzano in his mansion by snapping his neck, finishing his vengeful mission of killing all four the Black Knights.[8] Some time later, The Judge raided and destroyed a shabu factory in Alabang and was widely reported on.[4]

Sancho Santamaria and the inmates of New Bilibid Prison fell under the influence of Talagbusao through General Ramon Lanares, causing deliberately planned riots inside the prison. Through them, Talagbusao enacted a series of suicide bombings throughout Metro Manila. On the eigth day of the riots, Sancho and the inmates staged an encounter with Ramon's men. Alexandra Trese, the Kambal, and their allies manage to overwhelm Sancho, but Talagbusao reveals himself and physically manifests through Ramon's body. After a fateful encounter, Alexandra manages to trap Talagbusao in Eternos through a Dragon's Gate.[20]

In Ayala Alabang, a kapre lends Alexandra Trese a carrion bird that helped her track down Irma Allegra's whereabouts.[21]

Navotas[]

Navotas, officially the City of Navotas, is a 1st class highly urbanized city known as the Commercial Fishing Hub of the Philippines, for the city has the third largest fish port in Asia and the largest in Southeast Asia.[22]

Rakuda, and by extension the Razorfish Clan, used to operate mainly in Navotas. They and three other taga-dagat gangs were connected by the Madame to Mr. Sorbetero, who provided them with Shift Pills in exchange for special ingredients such as sirena bones. Accompanied by his bat-like aswang bodyguards, Mr. Sorbetero met with them in a warehouse with a yellow rusted gate for their illegal trade.[23]

Quezon City[]

Quezon City, also known as the City of Quezon and Q.C., was the previous capital of the Philippines. It was named for Manuel L. Quezon, the 2nd President of the Philippines, and is the most populous city in the country.[24]

A dancer named Janette Lucero was murdered along with four members of the Skeleton Crew in a club in Cubao owned by a woman named Mama Lan. This was later investigated by Anton Trese while accompanied by his then thirteen year old daughter Alexandra.[25]

More than a decade later, Dr. Karl Burgos immolated his sixth victim In Cubao's Chancellor Hotel and started a three day fire that raged in the city.[26]

Ortigas Center[]

Ortigas Center is a central business district located within the joint boundaries of Pasig, Mandaluyong and Quezon City. Establishments along the district include Magna Mall and Robertson Mall.[27]

More than a decade later, Robertson Mall, run by Mr. Gotianleung, had a controversy when his son Jeremy had gotten into trouble for pulling girls out of dressing stalls. As an act of goodwill, Alexandra and Anton Trese kept the situation discreet without giving any major repercussions to the Gotianleung family. To prevent if from happening again, Gotianleung put his son in a well-furnished bunker under Robertson Mall, guarded by his men.[28]

Years later, Dr. Petra Gallaga performed abortions in her clinic in Magna Mall, dissolving the fetuses with acid and dumping them irresponsibly in the mall basement's garbage. Left untended, the corpses of the babies were corrupted into tiyanak, infesting the mall. Marianna de los Santos and Raymond Tomas were later murdered by tiyanak, reported in the news as the Massacre at Magna Mall. Hank Sparrow and Alexandra Trese's clean up crew went to exterminate the mall's tiyanak infestation, but a stray one later kills Petra.[28]

Sometime later, Hannibal Caparas lured and murdered over a dozen children from various malls in Manila. One of the known victims was Mary-Anne Alvarez, last seen in Magna Mall during its midnight sale.[29]

In one of Ortigas' high-rise condominiums, The Judge busted a prostitution den and freed the girls. The act was widely reported by the media.[4]

Pasig[]

Pasig, officially the City of Pasig, is located along the eastern border of Metro Manila with Rizal province. The city shares its name with the Pasig River. A formerly rural settlement, Pasig is primarily residential and industrial, but has been becoming increasingly commercial in recent years, particularly after the construction of the Ortigas Center business district in its west.[30]

After Albert Morales's accident from racing against Maliksi, he was immediately admitted into Pasig's Medical City. Later, he was visited by the tikbalang and healed after Alexandra Trese used one of her wishes after beating Maliksi.[3]

Maharlika Electric Company (also referred in the series as the Maharlika Electric Corporation) is an electric power distribution company that provides most of the electricty in the Philippines. It is primarily owned by the Genio Corporation and is where Bagyon like Bagyon Lektro and Bagyon Yente resided. Though it's location is not specified in the series, the company's headquarters bears a strong resemblance to Meralco Theater, a real life building found in Pasig.[31]

Taguig[]

Taguig, officially the City of Taguig, is located in the western shores of Laguna de Bay. The city is known for the Fort Bonifacio area, which has Bonifacio Global City, one of the leading financial centers of the Philippines, as well as the Fort Bonifacio military camp, the site of the national headquarters of the National Philippine Army.[32][33][34]

More than a decade ago, Ramona summoned Talagbusao during a celebration inside General Wilson Hidalgo's home in Fort Bonifacio. Talagbusao quickly took over the vicinity and started killing everyone in sight, but by Anton Trese and Alexandra Trese's efforts and Amang Paso's assistance was trapped in the land of the duwende.[35]

Outside Metro Manila[]

Antipolo[]

Antipolo, officially the City of Antipolo, is a 1st class component city and capital of the province of Rizal, Philippines.[36]

Hector Mendoza's residence in Antipolo was the site were he imprisoned, tortured and assaulted multiple humans and supernatural beings. Alexandra Trese tracked down an imprisoned Irma Allegra to Hector's residence and subsequently arrested and reported his crimes to the police.[21]

In Antipolo's Valley Golf and Country Club (referred in the series only as Valley Golf), Elizabeth Victoria operates Casa Victoria. The private establishment, more famously known as Casa Lanan, pairs customers with other customers and lets them indulge drugs and each other.[37]

Basilan[]

Basilan, officially the Province of Basilan, is an island province located primarily in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.[38]

A blind weaver from Basilan wove the Cloak of Takipsilim, weaving a deeply dark cloth[39] with sigils of protection woven into it.[40]

Bukidnon[]

Bukidnon is a landlocked province in the Philippines located in the Northern Mindanao region.[41] Señor Armanaz and his tikbalang clan once lived in Bukidnon, where they let Alexander Trese live with them for some time. During their stay, hunters with invisibility-granting anting-anting discovered them. They successfully hunted the tikbalang for their body parts, using them as ingredients for magicks. The events later came to be known as the Bukidnon Massacre.[4][7]

Batangas[]

Batangas, officially the Province of Batangas, is a province located in the Calabarzon region.[42] General Ramon Lanares diffused a hostage situation in Batangas, taking out all six rebels involved and blowing up their speedboat.[20]

Calamba[]

Calamba, officially the City of Calamba, is a city in the province of Laguna, Philippines. It is the regional center of the Calabarzon region and is known as the "Spring Resort Capital of the Philippines" because of its numerous hot spring resorts, which are mostly located in Barangays Pansol, Bucal, Bagong Kalsada, and Lingga.[43]

Alexandra Trese shut down a soul trafficking operation in Pansol run by an Oriol named Irago, a daughter of Assu Ang.[26]

She and the Kambal later fought The Judges after they tried to kill Governor Sunny Romualdez in his Calamba residence. Their battle was interrupted when Señor Armanaz brought an army of a hundred tikbalang with him to the place, enacting a stampede that successfully killed The Judges. Maliksi stepped away from the tikbalang army to get Alexandra, bringing her with him and saving her life from the stampede. The stampede itself was reported by the media as an unexpected tornado.[44]

Mount Apo[]

Mount Apo, also known locally as Apo Sandawa, is a large solfataric, dormant stratovolcano on the island of Mindanao, Philippines.[45]

It was believed that Darago and Darranga mainly resided inside Mount Apo within a fortress that had a throne that flowed with their enemies' blood.[7] Warriors used to worship and make blood sacrifices to them to earn their favor.[46]

Mount Banahaw and Mount Cristobal[]

Mount Banahaw and Mount Cristobal are two mountains sitting on the boundaries between the provinces of Laguna and Quezon. The mountains are considered good and evil counterparts of each other, respectively.[47][48]

In the series, Mount Cristobal is a mountain considered to be the domain of several malevolent entities and creatures. Buhay na bato are usually created by salamankero from ordinary stones taken from the peak of Mount Cristobal.[7]

The Great Balete Tree can be found in a valley between the two mountains. This tree is where the eponymous trials to become a Babaylan-Mandirigma take place. During Alexandra Trese's trials, four rebel clans of aswang sought to stop her as her families and friends defended her and the tree. In a desperate move, Anton Trese gave his life to cast a protective spell on the tree, ending the conflict immediately. Alexandra emerged three years later, finishing the trials and assuming the role of the Babaylan-Mandirigma of Manila.[40]

Mount Makiling[]

Mount Makiling, or Mount Maquiling, is an inactive stratovolcano located in the provinces of Laguna and Batangas on the island of Luzon, Philippines.[49]

Notably, the Babaylan of Makiling assisted the Metalero in forging the fifth Trese child's soul into a kris.[40]

Rice wine made in Makiling are highly sought-after by some duwende and can be used as a higher incentive to bribe them with.[31]

Pampanga[]

Pampanga, officially the Province of Pampanga, is a province in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines.[50]

The Judge stopped a gun smuggling operation in Pampanga and was widely reported on.[4]

Undetermined locations[]

Castle Motel[]

Nida Vargas, having no access to the powers of the Adarna Stone, was sexually assaulted by the Black Knights in Castle Motel.[8]

D&D's BattleGround[]

D&D's BattleGround is an internet cafe run by Darago and Darranga, going by Dar and Darra. Established after their movie theater in Cubao ran out of business, D&D's BattleGround was initially an arcade they made to feed on the players' battles against videogames to ethically temper their own bloodlust.[7]

In current times, they updated their facilities from having arcade cabinets to including computers. Talagbusao is currently trapped in one of their computers, compelled to continue to fight the waves of players in Eternos.[20]

Jingco Lumber[]

Datu Gantes leads the higante under the guise of Jingco Lumber, a logging company owned and manned by their human alaga. However, recent developments such as rising fees, stricter regulations and the presence of illegal loggers made it hard for them to turn a profit.[4]

Maharlika Electric Company[]

The Maharlika Electric Company is an electric power distribution company that provides most of the electricity in the Philippines. It is primarily owned by the Genio Corporation and is where the country's current resident Bagyon operates.

Though it's location is not specified in the comics, it's appearance is heavily based on the Meralco Theater, a real life building in the Philippines located in Ortigas Center.

Ophelia's Spa[]

Oriol the Enchantress once resided and conducted sex work in Ophelia's Spa, often seen relaxing inside a bathtub naked. She was later sent back to the Underworld by Alexandra Trese and the Kambal after her dealings with Dr. Karl Burgos.[26]

The Palacio[]

The Palacio is a building dedicated to the honor of the Madame's husband. Located along the Pasig River, the building's ground floor is a museum dedicated to the legacy of the Madame's husband while the second floor is the Madame and her family's place of residence. The latter is also the setting for the Madame's diplomatic affairs, hosting parties for diplomats and politicians.[12]

Though the location of the building is not specified, it's exterior bears a great resemblance to Malacañang Palace, the residence of the President of the Philippines that also happens to be located by the Pasig River.
